For 135 years, West Virginia Baseball chased a dream.
A dream carried by generations of players, coaches, families, fans, and supporters who believed that one day the Mountaineers would reach Omaha.
Now, that dream is reality. After an unforgettable postseason run filled with adversity, comebacks, walk-off victories, and championship moments, West Virginia is headed to the College World Series for the first time in program history.
As the team departed Morgantown for Omaha, Mountaineer Nation showed up. Fans gathered before sunrise outside the WVU Coliseum. Community members lined up to wish the team well. WVU President Michael Benson was there. The Morgantown Fire Department was there. Families, alumni, and supporters from across the state were there.
Because this moment belongs to all of them. It belongs to the former players who helped build the foundation. It belongs to the coaches who believed. It belongs to every fan who packed Kendrick Family Ballpark and every supporter who never stopped believing this day would come.
This team has become a source of pride for an entire state. They have played fearless baseball, overcome every challenge in front of them, and inspired a fan base along the way.
Now, only eight teams remain. The journey that began 135 years ago continues on college baseball's biggest stage.
One dream realized.
One goal remains.
The Mountaineers are headed to Omaha.
