What a night at Kendrick Family Ballpark.
West Virginia survived a late Kentucky comeback and punched its ticket to the Super Regionals with a dramatic 6-5 walk-off victory in 10 innings to win the Morgantown Regional Championship.
After building a 5-1 lead, the Mountaineers watched Kentucky rally with two home runs in the eighth inning to tie the game and force extra innings. But WVU never blinked.
In the bottom of the 10th, Brodie Kresser led off with a single before Armani Guzman delivered the game-winning hit, sending the Mountaineers into celebration mode and a best-of-three Super Regional against Cal Poly.
Guzman finished with three hits, while Gavin Kelly homered and was named the Morgantown Regional MVP. Maxx Yehl bounced back with five strong innings on the mound, and Dawson Montesa recorded two massive outs in the 10th after pitching 122 pitches less than 24 hours earlier.
The win sends West Virginia to its third consecutive Super Regional and keeps alive the dream of reaching the College World Series.
