In a dramatic Class A Region IV, Section 2 championship, the Wahama White Falcons defeated the Gilmer County Titans 11-10 in the bottom of the seventh inning of the second game to advance to the regional round. This followed Gilmer County's 8-3 victory in the first game, which was delayed by weather. In the decisive second game, after Gilmer County took a late 10-9 lead in the top of the seventh, Wahama rallied with Elissa Hoffman's game-tying double and Zoie Mayes' game-winning single. Wahama's coach praised Mayes' clutch performance and the team's resilience after losing the first game. Senior pitcher Elissa Hoffman pitched all 14 innings for Wahama. The White Falcons will now face Sherman in a best-of-three regional series as they pursue their fourth state title in five years.
