On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Chapmanville held off a strong second-half push from Robert C. Byrd to earn a 75-68 victory in a Class AAA quarterfinal at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The top-seeded Tigers set the tone early, using a strong first quarter run fueled by Keaton Terry, who finished with a dominant double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds. Chapmanville built a 41-24 halftime lead behind balanced scoring and strong work on the glass.
Eli Smith added 17 points, while Dakota Dalton chipped in 16 as the Tigers extended their advantage into the third quarter.
Robert C. Byrd refused to go away, rallying behind Logan Boyce, who led the Flying Eagles with 22 points, and Cameron Newsome, who added 19. RCB trimmed the deficit to as little as 12 points in the second half, applying pressure late in the game.
However, Chapmanville responded with key plays down the stretch, including timely scoring from Benji Adkins and a strong interior presence that helped secure the win.
With the victory, Chapmanville advances to the Class AAA semifinals, where they will face the winner of Winfield vs Ripley.
