On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, North Marion staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Shady Spring 66-64 in a Class AAA quarterfinal at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
Shady Spring controlled much of the game early, jumping out to a strong start behind Kobe Dillon, who led all scorers with 22 points. The Tigers built a 36-26 halftime lead and maintained control into the second half.
North Marion slowly chipped away at the deficit, led by Eli Ramsey, who scored a team-high 19 points, and key contributions from Connor Balwins and Jacob Kucish. The Huskies rallied in the fourth quarter, using timely free throws and clutch shooting to take the lead late.
In the final moments, Maddox Batson delivered the biggest play of the game, grabbing an offensive rebound and scoring the go-ahead basket with just seconds remaining to give North Marion a 66-64 lead.
Shady Spring had one final opportunity, but Dillon’s potential game-winner came up short as the Huskies completed the comeback victory.
With the win, North Marion advances to the Class AAA semifinals, where they will face Big Ten rival Bridgeport.
