Hudson Clement emerged from relative obscurity to deliver a breakout senior season that capped one of the most dominant years in West Virginia high school football, earning MetroNews Football Player of the Year honors. After a modest junior campaign in which he split time between outside linebacker and receiver, Clement exploded as a senior, catching 87 passes for 1,709 yards and 23 touchdowns while also showcasing his versatility and work ethic. His season peaked in Martinsburg’s 62-21 Class AAA championship win over Huntington, where he accounted for eight touchdowns — four receiving and four rushing — setting a Super Six scoring record and helping the Bulldogs claim their ninth state title since 2010. Known for his precise route running and reliability in contested catches, Clement thrived in a two-quarterback system and seamlessly expanded his role when injuries hit, even filling in as a runner when needed. With 13 first-place votes and a decisive win in the statewide media poll, Clement’s rise from junior varsity contributor to state player of the year underscored years of dedication, growth, and seizing the moment when his opportunity arrived.
