Jarod Bowie capped an already storied high school career with a dominant senior season, emerging as Martinsburg’s primary playmaker and earning 2019 MetroNews High School Football Player of the Year honors. A key contributor to state championship teams in 2017 and 2018, Bowie took on an expanded role in 2019 and thrived, leading the Bulldogs to another unbeaten season and Class AAA state title. He finished the year with 1,078 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns, highlighted by three first-half scores in the state championship game, while also excelling on special teams with 2,122 all-purpose yards and six punt-return touchdowns. Despite being undersized, Bowie’s speed, route running, toughness, and team-first mentality made him one of the most complete offensive threats in the state. Praised by his coaches for his work ethic and selflessness, Bowie helped Martinsburg complete a flawless four-year run during his career, with the Bulldogs going 56-0 and winning four straight state championships, solidifying his legacy as one of the program’s all-time greats.
