Sophia Lehosit delivered a dominant performance in the circle, tossing a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to lead University to a 7-0 win over Washington in the Class AAAA North Region co-final.
The Hawks (22-5) secured their third consecutive regional championship and advance to the Class AAAA state tournament, beginning June 4 in South Charleston.
University built early momentum with back-to-back three-run innings to take a commanding 6-0 lead. Lehosit also contributed at the plate with two RBIs, while Adalyn Brown drove in three runs, including a two-run double.
Additional contributions came from Lexi Elza and Madison Shaver, who reached base in all four plate appearances.
Washington (15-8) remains alive in regional play and will look to secure a state tournament berth with one more win.
