Freshman Isaac Van Meter delivered the decisive hit, driving in the game-winning run after a strong pitching performance where he threw five innings. Moorefield's offense erupted early, scoring three runs in the first, but Wheeling Central responded with three unearned runs in the same inning, capitalizing on an error. The game remained tied until Van Meter’s crucial hit in the eighth. Junior Derek Hoyt closed out the game with three strong innings of relief. Moorefield's resilience and strong defense proved pivotal, overcoming early adversity to claim the championship. The victory marks Moorefield's third state title, adding to their previous wins in 2002 and 2009.
