St. Albans holds off a late Shady Spring rally, moving to the AAA final

St. Albans is headed to Championship Saturday.
The Red Dragons won their second consecutive one-run game at the state tournament, defeating Shady Spring, 3-2, in the Class AAA semifinals at Jack Cook Field.
Braxton Burke earned his second win of the state tournament, pitching six strong innings before Gavin Comer recorded the final three outs to send St. Albans to its first state championship game since 2019.
Chance Campbell led the offense with two RBIs, delivering run-scoring singles in the first and fifth innings. Campbell also scored a run on a wild pitch as the Red Dragons built a 3-0 lead.
Shady Spring rallied in the sixth inning with consecutive RBI hits from Eli Naylor and Noah Fox, but Burke escaped further trouble and Comer closed the door in the seventh.
The victory sets up a championship showdown between St. Albans and defending state champion Ripley on Saturday evening.
