PB seeks more history after playoff berths
Sports
The Philip Barbour Colts are on the cusp of making history, aiming for their third consecutive postseason appearance, a first for the program. This ambition follows their recent success, including their first-ever home playoff win in 2024 under Coach Nick Mayle. While the Colts boast a strong returning cast of skill players, a key focus for training camp will be solidifying their offensive line, especially after losing Division I signee John McGee. Malachi Cross is set to anchor the line, with support from Dayton Morrison and Remington Mullenax, who showed considerable improvement as a freshman center last year.
On offense, freshman quarterback Robbie Jones, who led the team to a playoff victory last season, is expected to refine his mid-range passing game. He'll have a formidable receiving corps at his disposal, including last year's leading receiver, Cam Bennett (32 receptions, 581 yards, 7 touchdowns), Pat Webster, and Malachi Poling. Mason Jones is also anticipated to take on a more significant role in the running game. Defensively, the Colts will be led by Tyler Vance, their top tackler from last season, who averaged an impressive 12.7 tackles per game as a junior. Vance has added significant size in the offseason and is expected to continue his dominant performance.
