University completed a perfect regular season in dramatic fashion, defeating rival Morgantown 20-13 on a last-second trick play in the MoHawk Bowl.
Facing fourth-and-long from the Morgantown 40 with the clock winding down, the Hawks dialed up a play installed just days earlier. Brody Kehler took the handoff and delivered a halfback option pass to Hayden George for the game-winning touchdown with just five seconds remaining.
Head coach Eric Snyder credited offensive coordinator Dustin Lawless for believing in the play and trusting his players to execute with the game on the line.
Morgantown controlled much of the first half. Aidan Petsko opened the scoring with a 29-yard field goal before Maddox Twigg scored from 3 yards out to give the Mohigans a 10-0 advantage.
University responded before halftime when quarterback Harrison Helbig connected with Jaedyn Katchur for an 8-yard touchdown, cutting the deficit to 10-6.
Petsko added another field goal in the third quarter, but University’s defense produced a critical turnover when Michael McKenzie recovered a fumble near the Hawks’ goal line.
Helbig later scored on a 1-yard run to tie the game at 13 with eight minutes remaining, setting the stage for University’s unforgettable final drive.
The 20-13 victory gives University its first MoHawk Bowl win since 2022 and completes the sixth undefeated regular season in program history.
The Hawks now enter an off-week before beginning their postseason run.
