Martinsburg doesn't need any reminders about how the 2025 season ended. The final score — 28-21 — still hangs in the Bulldogs' locker room after their Class AAAA state championship loss to Morgantown.
Now, one of West Virginia's most successful programs is using that loss as motivation entering 2026.
Head coach David Walker returns an experienced group of playmakers led by senior quarterback Brian Dick, who accounted for 43 total touchdowns in his first season running the Martinsburg offense.
Senior Boston Todd returns after hauling in 19 touchdown passes and more than 1,200 receiving yards, while Kingston McDonald-Gibson and Kevin Myers combined for nearly 1,500 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns last season. Senior Ty Ricketts also returns as one of the Bulldogs' most versatile contributors on offense, defense and special teams.
After winning 11 state championships in the last 16 years, the expectations remain the same in Martinsburg — compete for another title.
The Bulldogs will face a challenging schedule that includes a Week 2 trip to Bridgeport and a Week 7 state championship rematch against Morgantown.
Can Martinsburg turn last year's disappointment into another championship in 2026?
