Following a 45-13 defeat at UCF, West Virginia University's football season is struggling at 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the Big 12. After the team's fourth straight double-digit loss, head coach Rich Rodriguez affirmed his commitment to fixing the program's issues. The Mountaineers' instability at quarterback was on display again, with true freshman Scotty Fox starting before being replaced by Khalil Wilkins, who ran for 48 yards and a touchdown. The offensive line, a previously stable unit, had its worst game of the season, allowing seven sacks. Despite the 32-point loss, WVU did win the second quarter 7-0, a brief positive noted by junior center Landen Livingston. On defense, which gave up 578 total yards, sophomore bandit and Cabell Midland graduate Curtis Jones Jr. was a bright spot, registering four tackles and two pass breakups.
