Girls State Track: Huntington wins AAAA title; Greenbrier East makes history

Champions were crowned across all four classes at the WVSSAC Girls Track & Field State Championships in Charleston.
Wheeling Central Catholic captured the Class A championship in dramatic fashion, clinching the title in the final event with a win in the 4×400 meter relay. The Maroon Knights also dominated the relays and added individual titles from Loni Kusic and Alexa Loy.
Williamstown continued its dynasty in Class AA, winning a seventh consecutive state championship and the program’s 13th overall title behind relay victories and another strong all-around performance.
Greenbrier East made history in Class AAA, securing the school’s first girls state track championship. Annie Whited led the Spartans with wins in the 100, 200, and 400 meter races as Greenbrier East captured six event titles on Day 2.
In Class AAAA, Huntington held off Jefferson in a tight team race to secure the Highlanders’ sixth state championship. Jefferson’s Elecia McCurrie delivered one of the meet’s top performances by winning the 100, 200, and 400 meter runs while anchoring the victorious 4×400 relay team.
The 2026 WVSSAC Girls State Track Championships featured record performances, relay drama, and standout individual stars from across West Virginia.
