In the final game of Day 1 on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, East Hardy pulled away in the second half to defeat Parkersburg Catholic in a Class A quarterfinal at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The Cougars came out strong early, using an 8-0 run sparked by Gideon Good to take control. Mason Hamilton added to the momentum with a strong first half, helping East Hardy build a lead as large as 11 points.
Parkersburg Catholic battled back before halftime behind Preston Randolph and Zane Kirk, cutting the deficit to just three at the break. The Crusaders briefly took the lead in the third quarter after a basket from Leonardo D’Angelo, but East Hardy responded with a decisive run.
A 14-0 surge in the third quarter, highlighted by Evan Hamilton and Good, gave the Cougars control for good. Good led all scorers with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Mason Hamilton added 15 points in the win.
Luke Anderson paced Parkersburg Catholic with 15 points, including a buzzer-beating three to close the third quarter, but East Hardy proved too strong down the stretch.
With the 63-49 victory, East Hardy advances to the Class A semifinals, where they will face Greater Beckley Christian.
