Chansen Cole delivered his best performance of the season, tossing a complete game while striking out nine and allowing just one run on five hits. The dominant outing helped WVU secure its sixth Big 12 series win.
The Mountaineers got the offense going in the third inning when Gavin Kelly launched a solo home run to break the scoreless tie. Later in the frame, Armani Guzman added a two-run triple to extend the lead.
WVU continued to build momentum with runs in four straight innings, highlighted by a three-run home run from Sean Smith in the sixth to put the game out of reach.
The Mountaineers finished with 15 hits, with Kelly, Guzman, Matthew Graveline, Paul Schoenfeld, and Brodie Kresser all recording multi-hit games.
Kansas State’s lone run came on a solo home run from Micah Kendrick.
With the win, West Virginia improves to 30-12 (15-8 Big 12) and will look to complete the series sweep.
