Week 3 of the West Virginia high school football season delivered kickoff returns, long touchdowns, defensive stands and one incredible one-handed interception.

The countdown begins with Morgan Beverage taking a kickoff 95 yards for Pocahontas County before Brayden Boyer makes an impressive interception for Berkeley Springs.

Robert C. Byrd’s Isaiah Heflin connects with Deegan Barnett for a 27-yard touchdown, while Philip Barbour’s Tristen Price breaks free for a 65-yard score against North Marion. The Huskies answer with Kolson Brown finding Brian Poindexter for a 69-yard touchdown.

Braxton County’s Brady Toler hits Logan Payne for an 84-yard touchdown, but Midland Trail’s Colt Lesher responds with a 67-yard punt-return score in the Patriots’ 27-26 victory.

PikeView’s defense delivers a goal-line stand, Jayden Hatfield breaks loose for Elkins, and Moorefield’s Edison Metheny flashes his speed in the Yellow Jackets’ win over Hampshire.

Jacob Simmons helps Ravenswood snap its 20-game losing streak, while Logan standout Lucas Lambert produces a pair of touchdowns against Tug Valley.

And the MetroNews Top Play of Week 3 belongs to Petersburg quarterback Payton Metheny, who reaches up with one hand for an acrobatic interception in the end zone as the Vikings defeat Berkeley Springs. Metheny recorded two interceptions in the victory.
