On Thursday, March 19, 2026, the WVSSAC Boys Basketball State Tournament continues from the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center, with a full slate of quarterfinals and semifinals set to shape Championship Saturday.
The day opens with a Class AAAA quarterfinal matchup between defending state champion Spring Mills and University High. Spring Mills is led by Akwasi Opoku-Achampong, who averages 19.7 points per game, while University counters with Luke Byrer, averaging 14.7 points per contest.
In the Class A semifinals, Tucker County meets Tug Valley for the ninth time in three years. Tug Valley enters riding a four-game win streak in the series, led by Brayden Farris, who is closing in on the 2,000-point milestone.
Later in the day, Morgantown faces Riverside in another Class AAAA quarterfinal. Morgantown brings the state’s top scoring offense, led by veteran head coach Dave Tallman, while Riverside makes its first state tournament appearance in 24 years behind Josh Brock.
Top-seeded George Washington takes on Huntington in a matchup of MSAC powers. Noah Lewis, averaging nearly 30 points per game, leads GW, while Huntington is paced by Clemson football signee Tavion Wilson.
In the second Class A semifinal, Greater Beckley Christian faces East Hardy. The Crusaders are powered by Javonte Spencer and Isaiah Gordon, while East Hardy leans on standout Gideon Good.
The nightcap features Washington vs Parkersburg South in a Class AAAA quarterfinal. Washington is led by Josiah King, while Parkersburg South features high-scoring senior Harry Silvis.
