Logan is moving on to the Class AA state semifinals.
The Wildcats broke open a competitive game with a five-run sixth inning and defeated Doddridge County, 10-3, in a quarterfinal matchup at the WVSSAC State Baseball Tournament.
After trailing 2-0 in the first inning, Logan answered with four runs in the second, highlighted by a towering two-run home run from Rob Ball. The Wildcats never surrendered the lead and put the game away late with five runs in the sixth.
Jaxon McClung drove in three runs, while Tanner Akers collected three hits to lead the Logan offense.
On the mound, the Wildcats strategically used three pitchers to keep arms fresh for the next round. Gunnar Bradshaw, Cross Conn, and Owen Bryant combined to secure the victory.
Logan advances to face defending state champion Wheeling Central Catholic in Thursday's semifinal round at Jack Cook Field.
