Gilmer County stayed alive in the Class A Region IV Tournament with a commanding 7-0 victory over Man in an elimination game at the Sue Morris Sports Complex.
Sophomore pitcher Kenley Hartshorn returned to the lineup in a big way, tossing a complete game shutout. Hartshorn allowed just seven hits while striking out nine and walking one. She also contributed at the plate with two hits and two RBIs.
The Titans (29-1) wasted no time generating offense, scoring three runs in the second inning before adding insurance runs in the third, fifth and sixth. Gilmer County manufactured runs throughout the game, using sacrifice flies and productive outs to keep pressure on Man’s defense.
Kaelyn Mullins and Hayley Sprouse each recorded three hits to lead the Titans’ 11-hit performance, while Emeri Hickman added a multi-hit effort.
With the win, Gilmer County advances to a decisive winner-take-all game Tuesday at 6 p.m., with a trip to the state tournament on the line.
