The standard hasn't changed in West Union.
After a 12-1 season and a trip to the Class AA semifinals in their first year after reclassification, Doddridge County enters 2026 looking to continue one of the state's most consistent football programs.
Head coach Bobby Burnside welcomes back a veteran core led by linebacker Dayne Murphy, lineman Jacob Britton, and running back Brandon Davis, while a new group of starters prepares to take on expanded roles. Senior Evan Cross steps in at quarterback, and the Bulldogs believe another hard-working, physical team is taking shape.
With nine consecutive playoff appearances and more than 90 wins over the last decade, Doddridge County has built a championship-caliber culture. The challenge now is maintaining that standard with a younger lineup.
Can the Bulldogs make another run through the Class AA playoffs?
