A conference championship and major Class AA postseason positioning are on the line as unbeaten Williamstown visits Doddridge County for the MetroNews Television Week 9 Game of the Week, sponsored by GoMart.

Williamstown enters at 7-0 and has established itself as one of the top contenders in Class AA. The Yellowjackets return many of the key pieces from last season’s team, but they also arrive with unfinished business against the Bulldogs. Doddridge County handed Williamstown a 40-26 loss a year ago before the Yellowjackets’ season ended with a 49-7 first-round playoff loss to eventual state champion Frankfort.

Now undefeated with the postseason approaching, Williamstown gets an opportunity to avenge last year’s loss and strengthen its position in the Class AA playoff race. A road victory over a one-loss Doddridge County team would add another major result to the Yellowjackets’ résumé as they pursue a deeper postseason run in 2026.

Doddridge County enters at 6-1 and riding one of the state’s longest active winning streaks. After dropping its season opener to Roane County, the Bulldogs have responded with six consecutive victories and again find themselves among the leading contenders in Class AA.

That success follows a 2025 season in which Doddridge County advanced all the way to the Class AA semifinals. With another experienced team in contention this fall, the Bulldogs have an opportunity to defend their home field, hand Williamstown its first loss and continue building toward another deep postseason run.

There is even more at stake than playoff positioning. The Little Kanawha Conference championship will be decided as Williamstown and Doddridge County meet for the 35th time in series history.

Williamstown is looking to remain perfect and avenge last season’s defeat. Doddridge County is looking for a seventh straight victory and another signature win over the Yellowjackets. With a conference title and valuable Class AA playoff positioning hanging in the balance, Week 9 brings one of the most consequential matchups of the regular season.
