No. 9 Lincoln used back-to-back three-run innings to build an 8-3 lead over No. 7 Lewis County before heavy rain suspended play in the top of the fifth inning in Shinnston.
The Cougars jumped out early with run-scoring hits from Kennedy Linville and Adriana Elder in the first inning, but Lewis County answered in the second when Emma Harris delivered a bases-clearing triple to give the Minutemaids a 3-2 advantage.
Lincoln responded with three runs in both the third and fourth innings to regain control before the weather stopped play. Elder also struck out four in four innings in the circle, while Sadie Jones, Linville, Elder and Kerstyn Leggett each collected two hits for the Cougars.
The game will be resumed at a later date.
