Midland Trail kept its season alive with a strong performance in the Class AA State Softball Tournament.
The Patriots defeated Weir, 7-1, in an elimination game in South Charleston to advance in the losers bracket.
Midland Trail controlled the game from start to finish, using timely hitting and a solid effort in the circle to earn the victory and send the Red Riders home.
Weir's season comes to an end, while Midland Trail moves on with hopes of making a deeper run through the state tournament bracket.
