Top-ranked teams delivered a pitching duel for the ages as Class AAA No. 1 Bridgeport edged Class AAAA No. 1 Morgantown, 2-0 at Dale Miller Field.
After five scoreless innings, Bridgeport broke through in the sixth. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Anthony Julian delivered the game’s defining moment — a two-run double down the left field line to score the only runs of the night.
Owen Sondericker was dominant on the mound for the Indians, tossing a complete-game one-hit shutout with six strikeouts to secure the win. Morgantown threatened late, bringing the tying run to the plate in the seventh, but Sondericker shut the door to seal it.
Maddox Boggs was impressive in the loss for Morgantown, striking out seven over 6.2 innings.
The win completes a regular season sweep for Bridgeport in this battle of No. 1 teams.
