I hit Ona Speedway for the first time during the Fly By 80 — and it completely blew me away. Fresh blacktop, a packed house, and none other than NASCAR legend Ken Schrader behind the wheel of the #8 car.
This wasn’t your average Saturday night short track — drivers came in from 8 different states to race in the 304, and the competition was fierce. From late models to modified, the action didn’t stop.
The energy was unreal, the cars were flying, and the new surface made for some incredible racing. West Virginia’s motorsports scene is alive and well — and I’m here to capture it.
