Morgantown powered its way into the semifinals with a strong second-quarter surge, defeating Riverside 73-58 in the Class AAAA quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
After a competitive opening quarter that ended tied at 15, Morgantown took control with a dominant 23-5 run in the second. Waylen Calistra led the charge with a monster performance, scoring 32 points on 14-of-18 shooting while adding 8 rebounds.
Max Frye contributed 19 points, including multiple highlight dunks, while Cam Kellogg and Marcus Goings helped stretch the lead with key three-pointers.
Riverside, making its first state tournament appearance in 24 years, showed resilience behind Josh Brock and Rocco Terry, who each scored 20 points. The Warriors trimmed the deficit to 13 in the fourth, but Morgantown’s size and efficiency proved too much down the stretch.
With the win, Morgantown advances to semifinal Friday, continuing its pursuit of another state championship appearance.
