Voters in West Virginia are deciding between seven candidates vying for two open seats on the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, with one race in Division One and another in Division Two.
The openings come following the retirement of Beth Walker and the passing of Tim Armstead, leaving unexpired terms of two and six years on the ballot.
In Division Two, incumbent Thomas Ewing—appointed by Governor Patrick Morrisey—is seeking to retain his seat, highlighting his experience as a former circuit court judge. He is challenged by Delegate Bill Flanigan, who points to his legislative background and personal resilience.
Division One features a crowded field, including appointed incumbent Gerald Titus, along with candidates Laura Faircloth, Todd Kirby, Kirk Kirkpatrick, and Martin Sheehan. Each brings a range of legal, judicial, and prosecutorial experience, with campaign focuses including transparency, constitutional interpretation, and improving court efficiency across the state.
