2m 24s
Weir struck early and held on late to earn a 5-3 road win over Wheeling Central Catholic in a matchup of ranked teams.
The Red Riders opened the game with a huge first inning, sparked by a leadoff home run from Lila Boilegh. Eliza Utt, Bella Weber, and Logan Barton followed with base hits as Weir quickly built a four-run lead. Wheeling Central battled back throughout the game and brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh, but Weber made a leaping grab at first base and turned a game-ending double play to seal the win.
Utt went the distance in the circle for Weir, while Olivia Kiaski settled in after the first inning and tossed a complete game for the Maroon Knights. Maddie Miehle and Berklee Heller each had two hits for Central, while Weber and Lexi Shockley added two hits apiece for the Red Riders.
Weir improves to 9-3 with the win, while Wheeling Central Catholic falls to 9-6.
