Oak Glen defeated Wheeling Central Catholic 3-1 in a Class AA Region I, Section 1 tournament game. Sophomore Mattie Carney hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to break the scoreless tie and pitched a strong game, allowing four hits and striking out ten. Oak Glen added two more runs in the fifth inning. Wheeling Central scored a run in the seventh, but Carney secured the win. Oak Glen (24-6) will now host the winner of the Wheeling Central Catholic vs. Tyler Consolidated game for the sectional championship.
