In his 21 seasons, Tucker County Mountain Lions head coach AJ Rapp remains deeply committed to his small school football program, driven by the unique allure of Friday night lights, despite the extensive year-round demands. As the sixth-longest tenured head coach in West Virginia, Rapp has guided the Mountain Lions to an impressive ascent, including a remarkable 12 wins in each of the past two seasons and consecutive Class A state semifinal appearances. While they've fallen to eventual champions in those semifinals, the team is poised for continued success, led by returning second-team All-State quarterback Sam Marks, who aims to build on his 2,000-yard, 28-touchdown performance from last year. The Mohigans face the challenge of replacing key players like leading rusher and tackler Jared Reall and top receiver Garrett Wilfong, but are confident in the abilities of new ball carriers Cade Rapp and Braxton George, and dynamic playmaker Reid Kisamore. The program's recent triumphs have also boosted player numbers, with 30-35 kids now on the team, setting a strong foundation for future seasons and reinforcing the Mountain Lions' determination to reach the championship game.
