In the Mountain State Athletic Conference Championship game in South Charleston, West Virginia, No. 2 seed Cabell Midland defeated top-seeded Hurricane 1-0. Junior pitcher Audrea Watts delivered an outstanding two-hit shutout with eleven strikeouts, making Karlee Salmons' second-inning RBI triple the game's only score. Both Cabell Midland and Hurricane are highly ranked and in the same region, meaning only one can advance to the state tournament. Cabell Midland coach Herman Beckett praised Watts' performance and acknowledged the strength of both Hurricane and semifinal opponent Spring Valley. Hurricane's pitcher Sophie Dunlap also pitched well, allowing seven hits with no walks in a hard-fought game.
