Under new head coach Chad Ware, Elkins High School's football team is experiencing a resurgence after a challenging period. Following their historic 2020 playoff win under then-coach Evan Hott, who has since rejoined the staff, the Tigers struggled, winning only two games in the subsequent three seasons. However, in Ware's inaugural 2024 season, Elkins achieved a 5-5 record, securing a playoff berth thanks to a five-game winning streak. Ware emphasized the shift in team culture, increased community engagement, and a newfound belief within the program. Despite the graduation of All-State running back Nick Bowers, Elkins anticipates a strong run game, bolstered by a deep and talented backfield that includes transfers Jaden Hatfield, Logan Beam, and Seth Robinson, who are creating competitive position battles. The offensive line remains largely intact, with only one starter needing to be replaced. Junior Nate Sauerwein returns at quarterback, expected to manage the game effectively and make plays when called upon. Ware, an Elkins alumnus, expressed his deep connection to the program and his high expectations for both himself and his staff, noting the support of dedicated individuals and quality players.
