Under Coach Shane Eakle, who is entering his seventh season, the East Fairmont football team has experienced a significant turnaround, making the playoffs three times in the last six seasons after only three appearances in the program's history prior to his arrival. They currently hold a 20-12 record over their current three-year playoff streak.
Last season, the Bees recovered from a 2-3 start to finish 5-4, securing a playoff spot. Eakle emphasizes the value of the extra practice time gained from postseason appearances.
Looking to achieve a fourth consecutive playoff berth, East Fairmont's strength lies in its experienced offensive and defensive lines, with many players returning with a year of experience. Key senior players stepping into expanded roles include Gavin Murphey (wide receiver), Adrian Fleming (running back/linebacker), and Anthony Corwin (quarterback). Corwin has shown improvement and confidence in his decision-making.
The team faces a challenging schedule in the Big 10 Conference, with six of their upcoming opponents having made the playoffs last season. Despite the tough competition, the new expectation for the program is to consistently contend for playoff positioning.
