Through Day 1 of the WVSSAC State Track Championships, Morgantown holds a commanding 15-point lead in Class AAA girls' competition, with victories in the 3200-meter run by Maraid Johnson and the pole vault by Harlyn Nelson. University sits in second with 31 points, and Huntington is third with 27 points, having won the shuttle hurdle relay. Other notable Class AAA winners include Cabell Midland in the 4x800-meter relay, Martinsburg's Eva Craigie in the long jump, and Riverside's Jada Ward in the high jump. In Class AA, Williamstown is strongly positioned for a championship, accumulating 41.5 points despite no event wins, largely due to three second-place finishes and consistent scoring across various events. Herbert Hoover is second with 25 points, highlighted by freshman Maysen Fletcher's record-breaking performance in the 3200-meter run and her anchor leg on the winning 4x800-meter relay team. North Marion also secured two victories with Maylie Bland winning the pole vault and contributing to the winning shuttle hurdle relay, while Hannah Baker of Point Pleasant won the shot put. In Class A, Doddridge County has a narrow two-point lead over Charleston Catholic, with Doddridge County winning the shot put (Brooke Burnside) and Charleston Catholic claiming the 4x800-meter relay and the 3200-meter run (Bella Boggs). Additional Class A winners include Tyler Consolidated in the shuttle hurdle relay, Natalie Henger of Ritchie County in the discus, and Paw Paw's Shayla Tanouye in the long jump.
