Class AAA: Nitro (5) vs. Princeton (2) (12/6 at 6:30PM)
Watch #5 Nitro match up against #2 Princeton in the 2025 Class AAA State Championship. Kickoff begins at 7:00 PM, pregame coverage starts at 6:30 PM.
It is the 2nd year in a row that the Kanawha Valley will host the WV State High School Football Championships, and for the 2nd year in a row there is only one team from Kanawha County left in the playoffs. Last year in Class AAA the lone team remaining from Kanawha County was Herbert Hoover and they lost to Bridgeport in the championship game. This year, that one remaining team from Kanawha County is Nitro and the 5th seeded Wildcats will take on the #2 seeded Princeton Tigers. The Princeton Tigers are in the title game for the 2nd time in three years, however in 2023 they were in the big school’s classification and on a Saturday afternoon in Wheeling, Princeton fell to Martinsburg by a final of 57-13. This year, the Tigers are sporting an unblemished 13-0 mark, and they have a new head coach in Nathan Tanner who spent the previous six seasons as the head coach at Parkersburg South! Princeton is led by Brad Mosser and Chance Barker, and these two talented seniors would love to deliver the Princeton fans their first ever state football title. For the Nitro Wildcats, their only loss of the season came back in week #3 when they lost a one-point game on the road to Herbert Hoover. Head Coach Boom McKinney has his own talented work horse as 6’4 Senior Malachi Thompson is an offensive explosion ready to go off at any time. Thompson has signed to play his college ball at West Virginia University! So, if you like a lot of points, this is the one game this weekend you can’t afford to miss….the Class AAA Title game between (13-0) Princeton and (12-1) Nitro…..Streaming Live on MetroNews Television this Saturday at 7:00 PM!
