In a lopsided contest at Milan Puskar Stadium, the West Virginia Mountaineers suffered an embarrassing 48-14 loss to a dominant Utah team. The Utes controlled the game from the outset, scoring the first 35 points and never punting once throughout the entire game. WVU's offense, led by starting quarterback Jaylen Henderson, was completely ineffective in the first half, while the defense could not get off the field, allowing Utah to convert all eight of its third-down attempts before halftime. Utah's quarterback, Devon Dampier, had a standout performance with four touchdown passes and a rushing score, leading his team to over 500 yards of total offense. Despite a couple of late touchdowns, including the first career scores for Cam Vaughn and Diore Hubbard, the Mountaineers were thoroughly outplayed in all phases, prompting head coach Rich Rodriguez to call the performance a disappointment. The loss drops West Virginia's record to 2-3 for the season.
