Despite losing their game to Kansas 3-0, the WVU baseball team clinched the Big 12 regular season title thanks to Oklahoma State's 6-2 victory over Arizona State. This marks WVU's first outright Big 12 title and their second conference championship in three years (sharing it in 2023). Coach Steve Sabins emphasized the difficulty of winning and the significance of this achievement. While the team didn't perform their best against Kansas, their overall season record of 40-11 (19-7 in Big 12) secured the title. Now, as the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, WVU will focus on a strong postseason push, aiming for NCAA Regional hosting rights. Coach Sabins stated their ultimate goal remains winning a national title.
