History belongs to Morgantown.
Playing in the WVSSAC State Softball Tournament for the first time, the Mohigans completed a dominant championship run with an 8-0, six-inning victory over University to capture the Class AAAA State Championship.
Morgantown outscored four state tournament opponents 18-0 and rode the arm of Most Outstanding Player Madison Wisman throughout the week. Wisman tossed 27 consecutive scoreless innings in the tournament, allowing just 14 hits while leading the Mohigans to victories over Hurricane, Cabell Midland, George Washington, and University.
At the plate, Caroline Mallow drove in two runs, Kayleigh White collected three hits, and Carper Messerly added an RBI triple as Morgantown scored in five of six innings.
The championship caps a remarkable season for the Mohigans and delivers the program's first Class AAAA state softball crown.
