Veteran line to lead Morgantown against a daunting schedule
Sports
The Morgantown High School (MHS) Mohigans football team, under the leadership of sixth-year head coach Sean Biser, is poised for a significant 2025 season, aiming for a deep run in the Class AAAA playoffs. The team has shown consistent improvement, increasing their win total by one game annually since 2021, and last fall secured their first playoff victory since 2016. They'll face a challenging schedule, including five teams from the powerful Eastern Panhandle Athletic Conference and state champion Martinsburg, a gauntlet Coach Biser believes will ultimately strengthen the squad. Key returning players include anchors on the offensive line, junior Konnor Mott and senior Brayden Parks, and sophomore quarterback Maddox Twigg, who is expected to further develop his mental game. While replacing graduated all-state captain AJ Thomas, a talented committee of backs and receivers are ready to step up. Crucially, the Mohigans' strong defense, which held opponents to 14 points or less in ten games last season, is anticipated to be a cornerstone of their success, as Biser emphasizes that "defense wins championships."
