No. 3 Morgantown picked up a strong win to open Day 2 of the Mon County Classic, defeating No. 9 Washington 7-3 at Mylan Park.
The Mohigans (11-4) used three key multi-run innings to take control, scoring twice in the third, three runs in the fourth, and adding two more in the sixth to secure their third straight victory.
Carper Messerly led the offensive charge, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Maddie Wisman and Hayley Street each drove in two runs, while Street delivered a complete-game performance in the circle, allowing six hits and striking out six.
Washington (5-5) was led by Sophie Valentine, who went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and scored two of the Patriots’ three runs.
