Ryan doesn't care for a Clint Eastwood movie

Now, the one that makes the smart people in the audience go, "Ooh, that’s deep!" is 'High Plains Drifter'! You see, most Westerns? They’re about good guys, bad guys, and who owns the cattle. Very clear! But this one? This one is a ghost story!
I mean, the guy, The Stranger, he just shows up. He doesn’t have a backstory! He doesn't have a name tag! He doesn't even have a polite wave! He just appears, like a banjo player at a classical music concert! And you start thinking, "Wait a minute! Is he really there? Or is he a disgruntled spirit who was murdered a long time ago and now he’s back to paint the town red?"
It’s esoteric, people! That means it’s weird! It’s all very mysterious and thoughtful! It’s a Western that asks you to think! Which, frankly, is a terrible thing to ask of a cowboy! They're supposed to be shooting and riding! Not philosophizing!
