Petersburg pulled off one of the wildest comebacks of the state tournament.
Trailing 9-0 after two innings, the Vikings exploded for 14 runs over their final four at-bats to defeat Lincoln, 14-12, in the opening round of the Class AA State Softball Tournament.
The game stretched beyond four hours due to multiple weather delays, but Petersburg never stopped battling back.
Ella Chew delivered a monster performance, going 4-for-4 with a home run, eight RBIs, and four runs scored. Her bases-clearing double in the sixth inning gave the Vikings their first lead of the game.
Eight Petersburg starters recorded at least one hit as the Vikings completed the dramatic rally.
Lincoln jumped out early behind a seven-run second inning and collected 12 runs on the day, led by three hits from Kersytn Leggett.
