The No. 1 Morgantown Mohigans overcame early adversity from the No. 4 Jefferson Cougars in a Class AAAA semifinal, reeling off 31 unanswered points after their lead was cut to 21-14, eventually securing a dominant 52-21 victory at Pony Lewis Field. Quarterback Maddox Twigg led the charge, accounting for all seven of the Mohigans' touchdowns, rushing for three scores and 105 yards on 15 carries while completing 8-of-11 passes for 171 yards and three touchdowns, two of which went to Jayden Smalls. Morgantown initially built a 21-0 advantage before Jefferson, displaying the resilience that helped them overcome an 0-4 start, used an 85-yard kickoff return TD by Tony Allen and an 11-yard run by Jackson Rockwell to close the gap to seven points. However, a crucial late-half sequence—Twigg's 1-yard TD run and an Aiden Petsko field goal following a timely interception by Keltin Blunt—extended the Mohigans' lead to 31-14 at halftime. Morgantown continued to dominate in the second half, adding rushing and passing touchdowns from Twigg and a 64-yard punt return touchdown from Carter Cooper. The 12-1 Mohigans now advance to their first state championship game since 2005, where they will face No. 3 Martinsburg (11-2) in a rematch of an October regular-season game won by the Bulldogs. Head Coach Sean Biser credited the win as a testament to the hard work of his players and the entire program.
