n a defensive battle, Lewis County (4-3) secured a 39-32 victory over Hedgesville (2-3) by dominating from the foul line late in the game. The contest was tightly contested, with the score tied at 20 entering the fourth quarter and neither team leading by more than five points for the majority of play. However, the Minutemen pulled away in the final frame, never trailing and scoring seven of their final nine points on free throws. Lukas Moodispaw led Lewis County with 15 points, supported by Kyle Hayhurst with 14, while the Minutemen defense successfully held Hedgesville to a season-low point total.
The win improves new head coach Nathan West’s record to 2-0 since taking over for the retired Charles Simms at the end of the calendar year. West credited his team for settling down offensively against Hedgesville's tough defense and highlighted his trust in his players at the free-throw line. While pleased with the current eight-man rotation and the defensive scheme run by assistant coach Ian Fealy, West noted that the team needs to increase their scoring output into the 60s to compete with future regional opponents.
