Oak Glen's softball team secured their second state championship by defeating Petersburg 10-2 in six innings in the Class AA final, overcoming an early 2-0 deficit and a 61-minute rain delay. The Golden Bears, who finished the season 30-10, exploded for five runs after the delay and added five more unanswered runs. Pitcher Mattie Carney earned her third tournament win, while Carney and Danica Holden each had three hits in the championship game. Petersburg (23-12) finished as state runners-up for the second consecutive season.
