Wheeling Central delivered a stunning upset, defeating top-seeded St. Joseph Central 67-62 to claim the West Virginia Class A girls basketball state championship. This victory ended St. Joseph's dominant run and marked Wheeling Central's first title since 2008. Fuelled by a desire for revenge after past losses, Wheeling Central displayed exceptional shooting, connecting on 51% of their field goals and 56% of their three-point attempts. Leading the charge was Hannah White with 18 points, complemented by strong performances from Kaylee Reinbeau, Taylor Duplaga, and Eden Gainer. Despite a spirited comeback attempt from St. Joseph, Wheeling Central maintained their composure, securing the win and earning multiple players spots on the all-tournament team.
