Frankfort defeated Fairmont Senior 13-5 in the Class AAA state baseball semifinals, fueled by two five-run innings. This victory propels Frankfort (23-8) to the state championship game, where they will face Ripley. Frankfort, the defending Class AA state champions, is looking to win a second consecutive state title.
Fairmont Senior initially took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. However, Frankfort responded with five runs in the second, driven by key hits from Uriah Cutter and Blake Jacobs, taking a 5-2 lead. Fairmont Senior managed to tie the game at 5-5 by the fifth inning. Frankfort then exploded with another five runs in the bottom of the fifth, highlighted by a wild pitch, a bases-clearing double from Lane Lease, and an RBI double from Gunnar Bradshaw, making it 10-5. They added three more runs in the sixth, including a two-run double from Cutter.
Frankfort's starting pitcher, Lanson Orndorf, pitched a complete game, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out five. Fairmont Senior finishes their season with a 23-7 record. Frankfort's coach, Matt Miller, expressed confidence in his team, highlighting their fighting spirit as a smaller school facing larger opponents.
