After Penn State answered with a solo shot from Jack Porter in the second, West Virginia responded with two runs in the third inning—highlighted by a Gavin Kelly sacrifice fly and an RBI single from Sean Smith—to take control for good.

On the mound, WVU’s pitching staff delivered a complete performance. David Hagen earned the win, while Ian Korn, Weston Smith, and Reese Bassinger combined for six scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Bassinger sealed the victory with clutch double plays in the late innings to secure the save.
